Centacare Board Members

Chairperson: Ms Mary Darcy 

Mary Darcy, Chairperson, is a Counselling and Consulting Psychologist. She has been in private practice at Ballarat Psychological Services for 18 years. She holds degrees from the University of New England, Swinburne University and Harvard University. She works extensively in the area of organisational change and development.

 


Anne Hunt:

Associate Professor Anne Hunt OAM is a lecturer in Systematic Theology at Australian Catholic University and Rector of the Ballarat Campus of Australian Catholic University. She is currently a member of seven boards of governance - Loreto College Ballarat Council, Central Highlands Area Consultative Committee, Ballarat Centacare, Catholic Homes for the Elderly, Family Services 006:(in Melbourne), Catholic Education Commission of Victoria, Organs of the Ballarat Goldfields, and Ballarat Diocesan Schools Board.

Bishop Peter Connors:

Bishop Peter was ordained to the Priesthood on 23 July 1961. He was ordained Bishop on 21 May 1987 and installed as the Seventh Bishop of Ballarat on 23 July 1997. Bishop Peter is Chairman of the Commission for Canon Law of the Australian Catholic Bishops’ Conference and a Member of the Pontifical Council for Health Pastoral Care.

 

John Fogarty:

 

John Fogarty is the Chief Executive Officer, St. John of God Hospital, Ballarat. He has extensive experience in both the private and public health care sector in Victoria. He is also currently a Director of the Ballarat Cancer Research Centre and the Church and Charitable Private Hospitals Association. He is Chair of VECCI’s Western Victorian Regional Business Council, an Executive Member of the Committee for Ballarat and a member of the Blueprint Ballarat Community Committee. John holds a degree in Business Administration from RMIT University and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors

 

Liam Davison:

 

Currently Director of Religious Education for Catholic Diocese of Ballarat. Formerly principal of two Catholic secondary schools (Camperdown 1983-5, Frankston 1986-2005) Current responsibilities include oversight of the implementation of 'Awakenings' - the Religious Education Curriculum for the diocese, staff development, support for the Director of Catholic Education, representation of Ballarat diocese on various Catholic Education Commission of Victoria structures and initiatives. Has been married to Sue for thirty six years and father of five children.

 

 

Mark Lacey:

 

Mark Lacey is a consumer consultant and patient advocate in public mental health. During his nine years in this role, he has worked across the Grampians Region from Bacchus Marsh to Horsham. This work involves advocacy, quality improvement, community development and education. Prior to commencing this work, Mark was a member on the Committee of Management of the Ballarat Psychiatric Fellowship, which merged with Centacare in 1999. It became part of what is now the Centacare Psychiatric Disability Rehabilitation and Support Service. Mark has a Bachelor of Arts in Rural Social Welfare from the University of Ballarat, and a Graduate Certificate and Masterate of Arts in Theology. Mark’s other interests include writing, music, social justice work (currently with the Ballarat Refugee Support Network), mathematics, running and table-tennis. This is Mark's first full year as a member of the Board.

 

Michael Myers

Michael Myers is a former Chairman of the Board. He is a practicing Family Lawyer with BJT Legal.

 

John Twomey

Vice Chairperson, Treasurer and Chair of the Finance sub-committee, John is a partner in Prowse, Perrin and Twomey, a firm of Public Accountants. He holds a B.Bus., and FCPA. He has been a member of the Board since 1996.

 

Fr Gerry Baldock

Fr Gerry Baldock, Parish Priest of St Aloysius Parish (Redan and Delacombe) and St John the Baptist Parish (Beaufort) has a keen interest in social and justice issues. Currently Fr Gerry is Diocesan Director of Caritas Australia, a member of the Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission and Chairperson of the ‘Parish to Parish Partnership’ between Santa Maria Ainaro Parish in East Timor and the Redan, Delacombe and Beaufort Communities.

Peter Flynn

Peter Flynn is the Manager of W.M. Flynn Pty Ltd Commercial Builders. He is a member of the Centacare Finance sub -Committee as well as the Building subcommittee.

Les Dickinson

Les Dickinson has retired from pharmacy after a long career as a self employed Community Pharmacist with a special interest in Aged Care. Les was appointed to the Centacare Board in November 2004 and is engaged in a steep learning curve which he has found to be rewarding and challenging.
