Advocacy

The Advocacy Team is made up of the Community Connections, Housing Support for the Aged, Housing-Mental Health Pathways and Access and Equity Programs. Our vision is to work creatively with people with complex needs who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and advocate for better community access. Our aim is to address the present and changing needs of our clients.

 

Our objectives are to:

  • Advocate for change and equity.

  • Creative and flexible service delivery and

  • Assist community members with complex needs to access services.

Family Support

Family Support

Family Support provides a range of interventions including intake, active engagement, case management, practical in home support, counselling, brokerage, flexible hours of support, volunteer mentoring and neighbourhood focused activities.

Youth

Youth

Centacare's Youth Services offer a range of programs and supports for young people who are facing personal and living circumstances that place them at risk of dropping out of school or training placements; becoming long term unemployed; becoming or remaining homeless; becoming involved with police and the justice system; and for those who may have appeared before the courts and are facing a possible court sentence. Youth program staff offer young people assistance, support and advocacy to help them stabilise their personal circumstances and work towards a more positive future.

Housing Support

Housing Support

Centacare through the Intensive Homebased Outreach Support Program provide support to people with a mental illness in their own home or accommodation that are at risk of homelessness.

Counselling

CounsellingCounselling is an opportunity to talk about a concern with a qualified and skilled counsellor. The process provides support and respect while assisting the person towards a solution.

Employment

Employment

Centacare's employment services assist jobseekers to access available employment opportunities; address barriers to employment, education and training and to develop appropriate career pathways. Specialist services are available to disadvantaged clients who are referred through Centrelink and who require additional assistance to stabilise personal circumstances and to address those issues which are impacting on their capacity to engage and remain in employment, education and training.

Relationships

Relationships

Relationship services assist individuals, couples and families to develop skills that foster positive relationships with their partner, children and other family memebers. Assistance includes promoting positive parenting, and communication and problem solving skills for individuals and couples throughout the lifecycle. This includes relationship education and courses for pre-marriage and other key transition points such as becoming a parent.
