Centacare’s Executive Team hold a diverse range of skills in business administration, social welfare, governance, management and community services. The team oversee the operation of Centacare programs and services at an operational level.

Tony Fitzgerald

Chief Executive Officer

Commencing as Chief Executive Officer in January 2017 Tony’s extensive career encompasses work in the welfare and financial sectors.

 

Working as the Managing Director of State Trustees Tony spent 11 years overseeing the management and operation of the financial and legal service that supports those under a statutory appointment from VCAT. State Trustees employed over 450 people with a gross revenue of over $65m. Under Tony’s management State Trustees grew from 7,000 clients to over 9,200 clients.

 

Tony’s professional career includes 25 years working for the National Australia Bank (NAB) in domestic and international positions across Marketing and Credit Strategy & Planning. Tony also took a secondment to NAB’s former subsidiary in Northern Ireland.

 

Tony’s industry leadership positions have included President of the Trustee Companies Association, Member of the Financial Services Council Board Trustee Committee, Treasurer of the Australian Guardianship and Administration Council and a member of the Association of the Australian Public Trustees.

 

A graduate of the Queensland University of Technology, Tony holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and is a CPA, he is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Appointed Centacare General Manager of Corporate Services in 2011 Peta holds over 22 years’ experience as an accountant across a range of businesses including 7 years as Financial Controller for Polaris Australia & New Zealand.

 

Peta is a current Board Member of UFS Dispensaries Ltd and sits on the Waubra Primary School Council. Previously Peta served as the National president of Junior Chamber in 2001 and the International Vice President in 2005.

 

Peta holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Acctg), Graduate Diploma Corporate Governance and is currently studying her MBA. She is professionally accredited CPA and MAICD.

Employment Services

Appointed General Manager of Employment services in 1996 Trish has an extensive background in Education, Leadership, Business Management and Employment. In her employment at Centacare Trish has contributed to the organisation as a Senior Manager Employment and Vocational Services working across youth programs, housing and employment support programs.
Trish has managed the application of tenders and the implementation and establishment of these programs. More recently she has been responsible for managing Centacare Jobactive contract.
Trish holds a Bachelor of Arts, Diploma of Education, Bachelor of Education and a Graduate Diploma in Educational Administration.
She is a professional member of the National Employment Services Association and Jobs Australia.

Sue Hughes

General Manager

Family & Community Services

Appointed as the General Manager of Family and Community Services in November 2015. Sue brings to the team extensive non for profit experience in counselling, group work, management of family support services, parenting, alcohol and other drug services and family violence.

 

With over 14 years’ experience in Senior Advisor and Management roles with the Department Health and Human Services and the Department of Justice and Regulation Sue has managed portfolios in family violence, primary health and complex care, community health counselling, problem gambling and justice health.

 

Sue holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology, Graduate Diploma of Human Resources and Organisational Development and a Certificate in Welfare. She is a professional members of the Australian Community Workers Association and the Australian Human Resources Institute.
