Additional assistance for young families in the Wimmera

 In News

In response to the State Government’s Road Map to Reform, Centacare Ballarat have received funding from the Department of Health and Human Services to expand delivery of the Cradle to Kinder program to assist vulnerable young families in the Wimmera.

The Cradle to Kinder program provides long term ante and post-natal support and intensive case management to vulnerable young parents (under 25 years) and their children from birth until the child reaches four years of age. This expansion will provide an exciting opportunity for the Cradle to Kinder team to collaborate with local service providers and professionals to support families to build their parenting capacity including:

Promoting bonding and attachment and healthy parent child relationships
Promoting child development
Developing life and problem solving skills
Strengthening connection with community and culture

Centacare Ballarat will be drawing heavily on the experience of delivering the program across the South West (outreaching from Warrnambool) and the Central Highlands (outreaching from Ballarat) over the last three years. A Senior Case Manager will be based in Horsham two days per week (providing outreach services across the Wimmera) as we develop the program and establish partnerships with local stakeholders.
