Family Relationship Centre Celebrates Ten Years
Centacare’s Family Relationship Centre celebrated ten years of providing support to families, children and individuals in the Ballarat community with the Centacare Gets Creative Art Competition.
Local schools from across Ballarat submitted artwork to the competition with the theme ‘Families come in all shapes and sizes.’ Overwhelmed by the response and the depth of expression in the children’s artwork the Family Relationship Centre staff had the very tough task of judging the winners.
Winners were announced at the exhibition on Thursday 23rd November where students, their parents, and teachers came together with Centacare staff members to celebrate the Anniversary and hear the winners announced. St Columba’s Primary School, St Patricks Primary School and St Francis Xavier Primary School all received prizes.
Centacare Chief Executive Officer Tony Fitzgerald said this was such a great occasion for our organisation to involve the community. “We were excited to share our ten year anniversary with our local community and schools,” he said.
“The work we do through the Family Relationship Centre impacts so many people in the community. By providing access to quality supports and counselling for people at vulnerable times in their life our services can really make a long lasting impact.”
“We received well over four hundred submissions of artwork for the exhibition and they are outstanding. The children are so insightful in the ways they depict what family means and how diverse families can be,” said Tony.
The exhibition will be displayed in the Family Relationship Centre 34 Peel Street, Ballarat until January 2018.
