Leadership and Spirituality with Chris Lowney

“You must love those you lead, before you can be an effective leader” was one of the many reflections Chris Lowney delivered to the Leadership and Spirituality breakfast audience on Wednesday 11th September.

Many gathered on Wednesday morning to listen and engage with the leadership and spirituality professional, Chris Lowney. Chris, who is an American speaker and noted author, featured at the breakfast hosted by Centacare in collaboration with Catholic Social Services Victoria and Catholic Diocese of Ballarat.

Chris has been a Jesuit Seminarian, a Managing Director for J.P. Morgan & Co and is currently the vice chair of CommonSpirit Health, the largest non-profit health system in America.

Chris drew much of his presentation from his recent book ‘Everyone Leads’ the revitalization of the Church, which builds on the Ignatian principle that everyone exercises a leadership role.

Upon opening the breakfast presentation, Chris asked the audience to reflect on those they consider to be influential leaders and the personal qualities and attributes that coincide with effective leadership, to then remind the audience that each day everyone has a leadership opportunity and responsibility, not just of those superior.

Chris delivered an engaging, knowledgeable and interactive presentation on leadership and Ignatian spirituality, leaving the audience with three suggestions as a closing thought, to take the time each day to Be grateful, Lift your horizon and Review the day, in order to lead effectively.
